Summer was full of energy and purpose at Metrocrest Services. While school was out, our programs were in full swing, feeding students, teaching adults and teens, and empowering neighbors across our community.

Sack Summer Hunger

We helped ensure that 1,066 students had access to nutritious meals throughout the entire summer. With breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided weekly, we delivered a total of 75,600 meals. One parent shared:

“We received healthy and varied food, which made a big difference in our summer. The volunteers were kind, full of love and empathy.”

ESL Classes

Over 30 neighbors joined Metrocrest Services and our complementary partner, Aspire, to improve their English skills. These classes brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds, creating a supportive space for learning and connection. One graduate shared:

“This is the first time I feel like I’ve actually achieved something. Thank you.”

This sentiment speaks volumes about the impact the ESL class had on its participants. The inaugural class was such a success, we’ve now started our fall classes with a packed house every Tuesday and Thursday.

Her Health, Her Power: A Women’s Health Event

Empowerment took center stage at our Her Health, Her Power event, where over 50 women gathered for a morning of education and self-advocacy. From learning about vital health screenings to understanding chronic conditions that disproportionately affect women, attendees left with tools to care for both their physical and emotional well-being.

Compudot Pathways Program

Twelve teens spent five weeks exploring careers in technology, learning everything from elevator maintenance to coding and web design. They built resumes, researched certifications, and gained hands-on experience. Each student received a free laptop upon completing the course.

While these are just a few of the summer highlights, our Teaching Garden continues to educate and provide fresh produce for the Food Pantry. We remain committed to offering temporary financial assistance, job and career coaching, and financial coaching—all part of our mission to empower individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and foster independence.
