THE DILEMMA
Need help feeding the kids this summer?
Metrocrest Services’ Sack Summer Hunger program provides healthy, easy-to-prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children who qualify for free or reduced meals during the school year.
During the summer, weekly meal bags with a combination of pantry items and fresh foods are distributed to students’ homes by a dedicated corps of church partners and Metrocrest Services volunteers.
- The 2024 Sack Summer Hunger program begins Saturday, June 1, and ends Saturday, July 27.
If your child qualifies for free or reduced school meals, they qualify for Sack Summer Hunger!
Metrocrest Services provides help to people who live in Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Farmers Branch, and the city of Dallas in Denton County (ZIP code 75287). If you do not live in one of the cities we serve, click here to find resources available near you.
What to Expect
FAQ
Are meals delivered, or do I pick them up?
Every Saturday morning, a volunteer will deliver a week’s worth of breakfast and lunch items to your home. You MUST be home to accept the items. We cannot leave them unattended. If you need to pick up your items, you may do so at Metrocrest Services’ Food Pantry.
What will my children get?
Each Saturday, your children will receive the items needed for five nutritious, easy-to-prepare breakfasts and lunches.
Here’s a one-week sample menu:
Breakfast: Pancakes and milk
Lunch: Chicken, mac & cheese, apple sauce, and mixed vegetables
Snack: Granola bars
My child has allergies. Can you get them food they can eat?
We are able to accommodate many common allergies. When filling out the application, you will be asked if your child has food allergies and what those allergies are. When your application is received, we will review the allergies listed and contact you with any questions.
