At the 19th Annual Keyholder Breakfast, Metrocrest Services brought the community together to help build economic stability for North Texans in need. Attendees enjoyed participating in a group discussion with financial experts, who gave real-world examples of the challenges of budgeting, earning credit, and securing jobs with livable wages.
“Creating understanding and insight into the issues faced daily by those who work but still cannot make ends meet is important,” noted Tracy Eubanks, CEO of Metrocrest Services.
“Our community has always come together for North Texans in need – a need that has grown exponentially over the past few years,” Eubanks said. “This annual event provides the support that is critical to our mission. We must also create a shared level of knowledge and understanding of the issues so that we may all stay informed and at our most ready to help our friends and neighbors around us.”
The event was hosted by Isaiah Stanback, an Emmy Award-winning NFL analyst and former wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. Stanback led the 500 guests in attendance through a group discussion about the financial challenges North Texans living on the financial edge face. Stanback was joined by financial education experts Diana Lozada, the financial education manager at Metrocrest Services, and Victor Johnson, a professional speaker, mortgage banker, and published author of Pathways to Wealth & Happiness.
“The 2024 Metrocrest Keyholder Breakfast was incredibly enlightening. I gained valuable insights into the daily lives of those around us and the economic challenges they face and overcome. It reinforced my gratitude for organizations like Metrocrest Services,” shared Justin Stuart, Senior Vice President of Business and Community Engagement at Mobility Credit Union.
The 19th Annual Keyholder Breakfast was held on Tuesday, April 23, from 7:30 to 9 a.m., at the Courtyard Dallas Carrollton and Carrollton Conference Center at 1201 Raiford Road in Carrollton.
The event also included an important acknowledgment of the community’s dedication with the presentation of the Lou Sartor Heart for the Community Award. Named for a long-time Metrocrest Services supporter and philanthropist, this award is given annually to honor an individual or entity’s dedication and outstanding service. Award recipients have a heart for the community, demonstrated by their consistent efforts to make a difference. This year, the award was presented to The Civic League, a nonprofit organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism and fundraising to support education, health services, social services, and cultural arts in the Addison, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch communities. The mission of Metrocrest Services has been furthered through a 36-year partnership with The Civic League and its committed volunteers.
In 2005, Metrocrest Services (then Metrocrest Social Services) launched its annual Keyholder Breakfast. The name pays homage to the original Metrocrest Services logo, which featured a key and the tagline, ‘the key to preventing homelessness.’ As Metrocrest Services continues to grow and develop in the community, the Keyholder Breakfast celebrates the agency’s roots and asks everyone to remember that community support is KEY to creating a thriving community for all.
This year’s Keyholder Breakfast benefited from the sponsorship of committed community members, including Platinum Sponsors Aaron Augustine with Allstate Insurance and Verity Instruments, and Gold Guardian Sponsors Western Extrusions, The Branch Church, Citi, Million Air Dallas, and Sam Pack’s Five Star Chevrolet and Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford in Carrollton.
