Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Metrocrest Services. Their generosity, compassion, and commitment make it possible to serve neighbors in need with dignity and care. On April 23, we were honored to celebrate that dedication during our annual Volunteer Appreciation Event, sponsored by TXU Energy.
The event welcomed volunteers who contributed more than 120 hours in 2025 or served on a recurring schedule throughout the year. The celebration was designed as a VIP experience, complete with a red-carpet welcome, opportunities to connect with fellow volunteers and staff, and moments to reflect on the collective impact made possible through service. During the program, Metrocrest Services leadership shared reflections on the vital role volunteers play across programs, from food distribution and resale operations to programs that create economic mobility for neighbors in need.
A highlight of the event was recognizing volunteers whose service truly went above and beyond. Among them were Metrocrest Resale’s “fab-five,” who each contributed more than 1,000 volunteer hours in the past year alone, the equivalent of more than two full-time employees’ worth of service.
Three of those volunteers, Ann Cramb, Debbie Wheeler, and Karen Muldoon, were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Each has contributed more than 4,000 volunteer hours at Metrocrest Resale, playing a vital role in the resale store’s continued growth and record-breaking success in recent years. Their long-term dedication is a testament to the power of consistent service and its lasting impact on our mission.
We also recognized Trinidad Martinez, a cornerstone of our Client Choice Pantry. Volunteering four days a week for many years, Trinidad has accumulated an incredible 7,200 volunteer hours overall. His reliability, kindness, and unwavering presence have made a meaningful difference for both clients and staff alike.
As the event concluded, volunteers were invited to enjoy refreshments, take photos, and connect with one another and Metrocrest Services staff. These moments of connection are a powerful reminder that our work is not possible without the shared dedication of our volunteer village.
To every volunteer who gives their time and talent to Metrocrest Services and Metrocrest Resale, thank you. Your commitment strengthens our community and makes our mission possible. We are deeply grateful for all you do.
