Single mother Candace moved to Texas from Mississippi in search of a job to support herself and her young son. She was living with her sister when the family hit a rough patch and could not pay their rent. The apartment complex they lived in referred her to Metrocrest Services.
Metrocrest was able to help Candace’s family cover her rent as she continued her job search. “They made it easy for me to get help during a challenging time in my life,” said Candace. “Not only did Metrocrest Services help me with my rent, but my case manager referred me to Workforce Manager Debbie for employment coaching.” With Debbie’s help, Candace enrolled in a real estate training program to become a real estate broker. “I’m so thankful for Debbie’s support,” said Candace.
Before Candace could get her real estate license, she found a job with a health insurance agency that she “couldn’t pass up.” With her current position, she has excellent benefits and opportunities for advancement. Candace does plan to pursue her real estate license in the future but, for now, is “very happy” with her life.
