The U.S. House of Representatives voted to keep extra financial help for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This is good news because it could mean lower costs for many families.

But this change is not final yet. The Senate still needs to vote, and the President must sign it before it becomes law.

What This Means:

  • For now, prices have not gone up yet
  • If the Senate agrees, savings will continue in 2026
  • If not, costs could rise later this year

What You Can Do:

  1. Sign Up During Open Enrollment (ends Jan 15)
Even if prices change later, signing up now is important. If you miss it, you may not have insurance for months.
  2. Compare Plans Carefully
Look at monthly cost, deductible amount, and cost for doctor visits. Cheaper plans can cost more later if the deductible is high.
  3. Check for Medicaid or CHIP.
Medicaid helps people with very low incomes. CHIP gives health coverage to kids. These programs may still be available even if ACA plans cost too much.
